Monday Rendevous with the Diamond Plate folder

Hello and happy Monday everyone! It's me Heidi and I am so excited to get to introduce the Diamond Plate folder, going to CHA in a couple of weeks!

I am bringing you a quick little tutorial for creating a distressed metal panel, perfect for embellishing scrapbook pages or cards.

I started with the following products:

1. Cuttlebug Embossing folder (I of course chose the Diamond Plate one)
2. Thin aluminum craft sheet
3. White acrylic paint
4. Paint applicator (I just used a small sponge)
5. Permanent ink (I forgot to photograph this, but I used Staz On in Timber Brown)
6. Sand paper

To start out first paint the entire piece of aluminum. Don't worry about neatness, after all were looking for a grungy distressed kind of look.

After the paint has dried, use a sponge or dauber to apply the permanent ink. again covering the entire area.

When the ink has dried, go ahead and emboss your metal sheet. Then sand the ink and paint from the raised areas.

I used my embossed distressed metal panel to make this quick and easy card, but I think this would be a great way to add a masculine touch to scrapbook pages as well!

Let me just say that if you have boys or men in your life you so NEED this folder! It is just perfect for all things guy!

Thanks so much, I really hope you enjoyed my tutorial!

Don't forget to become a follower as we have a goal to reach 1500 by the end of July..

I want this folder for the the benefit it will provide for car show pages, and drag races, and all other car related things. Nothing to do with manly at all, but with my interests. LOL, loved the distressed look you gave it.

Thanks for the tutorial. I love the folder. Having three sons and a husband, I can see using this one a lot. It reminds me of the tool boxes in the back of pick up trucks! Great card!

I know this sounds "unlikely", but I'm going to share it because it's a fact. This afternoon, my hubby & I were on the road. An open-road Jeep was next to us. I admired the shiny metal dash, which matched the shiny trim around the "absent" door, and commented to DH about the unique but "time-less" design of that metal.
Now here is this post, complete with shiny silver, the same timeless design ... and I'm counting down the days to CHA/Orlando, hoping there will be some (at least one for me!) available after the 'retail' days when I get to see it IRL!
Great stuff, Cuttlebug!
