Hello Cuttlebug Fans! Cassie here and I am so excited to get to show you a new trick with your Cuttlebug embossing folders today. You can use your folder as a background stamp and create your own patterned paper! I've never seen this application used anywhere else and I hope you'll be as excited by it as I am! I'm using the New Victorian embossing folder being released at CHA!Supply List:
Cuttlebug
A plate and both B plates as well as some cardstock pieces for shims
Victorian Embossing Folder
Colorbox Chalk Ink in Olive Pastel
Cardstock (I used Old Olive by Stampin' Up!)
1. To begin, ink up the raised side of your embossing folder.
2. To get an impression that was complete, I used the Cuttlebug to apply the pressure.
Create the following sandwich:
A plate
B plate
Cardstock
{open} Embossing Folder, ink down
B plate
Cardstock shims*
*On my trial run I used 4 pieces of cardstock and the sandwich ran through fine. For my project run, I used the 4 pieces again and it was a tight fit through my 'bug. I could've gotten away with only 3 pieces. DO NOT force your sandwich through your 'bug or it could break.
After running the cardstock through the Cuttlebug, this is the result.
Don't forget to clean the ink off your folder as soon as you are done with it!
I first tried this technique several weeks ago on the card below. I used the Damask folder and inked it with Old Olive Classic ink from Stampin' Up. I did not use the machine to apply the pressure, just my hands, being sure to rub over the entire area. I love the way this has a worn feel to it as the impression is not complete - just a hint of texture!
I hope you've enjoyed my tutorial today! I would love to see your take on this new technique.

WOW! Cassie! You are a genius. I've tried stamping with folders, but I would NEVER have thought to use the CB to get the perfect pressure. WOWza! That looks SO stunning! :O)
I tried this technique last week and was so scared of getting my nice clean embossing folders dirty but they are easy to wipe clean and it was well worth it.
