Be Inspired # 47 CuttlebugChallenge Birthday Invitations

Happy Birthday to us! Thank you for coming to help us celebrate this month!! Let the
Cuttlebug Challenge Birthday Party Palooza Begin!!!

It is our first birthday, and we are going to be having challenges, tutorials, videos, goodies, prizes and fun nearly every day all month long....

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Today's Be Inspired Challenge is to Invite your guests to your party! Decide on the theme that your party will be, and create an invitation using any embossing folder.
The design team has each decided on a theme for their party, and have created invitations to give you some wonderful ideas. Throughout the month, you will use the same theme for each challenge ~ So easy :-)
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Every great party has goodies, favors and prizes, and this is certainly no exception!!
This week, we will be drawing random blog candy winners from the comments that you leave here, on the designers' blogs, AND on Tuesday night at midnight (EDT) we will choose one invitation winner to receive a PRIZE PACKAGE from our sponsor SAKURA of AMERICA!

On October 6th we will draw a GRAND PRIZE WINNER from all entrants who have participated in the Challenges every week in September!!! Don't miss one single day of the celebration - be sure to sign up as a follower/member; see all of the tutorials, videos, showcases, and be sure to play along every Wednesday!!
Our goal is to have over 100 participants each week! Play along, and invite your friends, too! When this month is over, this will be the greatest resource anywhere for magnificent party ideas!! You can always come back to be re-inspired!!

A chance to be published in the Ready Set Create Magazine
It is easy for everyone to participate in our challenges, even if you don't own a Cuttlebug. You can use a Big Shot, Sizzix, or any other embossing machine, or even a rolling pin! If you upload your work to an online gallery please use the label Cuttlebug Challenge blog #47.

TUTORIAL: Pocket Card made from a Provocraft Cuttlebug Embossing Folder

This is a pocket invitation to a stamping birthday party. It's designed to a gift (so it can be taken apart by the recipient who can use the embossing folder & use the leaves as card candy.) It fits in a standard acrylic card box with room for any information (a map?) or treats you'd like to add--the acrylic box also protects the folder invite for mailing in a bubble mailer.

Supplies:

Paper: Graph paper: Cosmo Cricket's Girl Friday Collection (Wednesday.); Core'dinations Whitewash cardstock; vintage book pages.
Colour: Distress inks (Peeled Paint & Broken China), Tempting Turquoise Craft ink (SU), Glimmer mist (Garden Fairy), White Sakura Souffle pen
Stamps: Leigh Hannan Damask leaves (Paper Gardens Projects)
Tools: Provocraft Embossing Folder as card base (Swiss Dots); Provocraft Embossing Folders (Birthday & Floral Fantasy); and a Cuttlebug Machine
Miscellaneous: Tim Holtz ink applicator & foam pad, clear embossing powder & heat gun; Wax paper/non-stick mat; Stampin' Up! Birds & Blooms sizzix dies; Acrylic card box; Acetate/Overhead projector sheet

Step 1) Cut Whitewash Core'dinations pieces to fit a Provocraft embossing folder: A) Bottom: 1 strip measuring 4-5/8" wide x 2-1/2" high; B) Sides: 2 strips measuring 1" wide x 5-3/4" high; C) Back: 1 piece measuring the the full folder size: 4-5/8" wide x 5-3/4" high

Step 2) Emboss all the Whitewash pieces in Provocraft folders & sand them all. Fold all 3 strips in half.

Step 3) Assemble it to make a frame on the front & a pocket on the back: A) Adhere the front of the bottom strip along the top of the embossing folder (hiding the text on the folder) B) Lay the full back panel over the back of the folder & Adhere the back of the bottom piece to it C) Adhere the side panels to the front wrap them around the back (adhering onto the full back panel.)

Step 4) Create the card (with the party information on it) to slide in the pocket. I embossed the text on Whitewash Core'dinations straight out of my printer (just sprinkle clear embossing powder on it while the printer ink is wet & heat with a heat gun.)

Step 5) Embellish it all however you like & place the invitation in an acrylic card box. (There's room in the acrylic box to add card candy or any other little gifts you'd like!)

Thank you so much for making the Cuttlebug Challenge Blog the best and your number 1 home on the Internet.
