Festival of Lights - Spotlight on Shimmerz

Our Design Team is featuring Shimmerz paints in their projects. These paints give your projects pizazz!

Hi! I am June Houck. I am back to celebrate the Festival of Lights with a Christmas Memories mini book.








Supplies:

• Shimmerz paints: Gold Glimmer & Fire Engine Red

• Cuttlebug embossing folders: Herringbone & Snowflakes

• Core'dinations color core card stock

• coordinating card stock and designer papers, ribbon, book ring, paint brush, tree punch, sanding block, chipboard, crop-a-dile, die shape and adhesive

Step 1: Choose your die shape and cut 2 from Core'dinations blue white wash color core card stock and 2 from chipboard.

Step 2: (Front & back covers) Emboss one die cut piece of the Core'dinations with the Snowflakes embossing folder. Tear strips of blue Core'dinations and adhere to the bottom of one die cut piece to create snow drifts. Die cut again. Adhere to chipboard.

Step 3: (Front cover) Punch 3 trees (I used a Paper Shapers punch) from green white wash Core'dinations and three trunks from brown Core'dinations card stock. Emboss the green trees with the Herringbone embossing folder. Adhere brown trunks to the trees and the tees onto the front cover. Lightly sand the snowflakes and the trees.

Step 4: (Front cover) Add year (I used red Core'dinations and QuicKutz CK handprint font). I also paper pieced the reindeer (Savvy stamp) from brown Core'dinations card stock and a Hero Arts Gemstone.

Step 5: With a paint brush paint the reindeer and the tree trunks with Shimmerz Gold Glimmer and the year with Shimmerz Fire Engine Red. Look how it makes my winter scene pop!



 

In celebration of the Festival of Lights, I added some blue lights to the tree and silver garland (Stickles).

Step 6: Choose coordinating designer papers and solid card stock. Cut 12 of each (24 die cuts total.) Adhere designer paper to solid card stock to create a page (There will be 12 pages total for the 12 days of Christmas.)



 
Step 7: Using crop-a-dile, punch a hole for the book ring. Add ribbon. Voila!


Now you are ready for the holidays! I plan to add photos to the designer paper and journal on the solid card stock. I would love to see what YOU come up with.
