Cuttlebug, Cricut and Scor-it = one happy 3-D Tree Tutorial!

Hi! It's me, Betty Brett, back with another idea for decorating your home for the holidays. These wonderful little trees will make just the right scene for your mantle, corner table, or entry. Perhaps you have a village scene, and would like to add these special little trees, and deer to your neighborhood! They are easy to make, and the great part is being able to vary the size to fit whatever your needs might be. Let's get started!

I used my Cricut Expression by Provo Craft and the new  Cricut Designers Calendar cartridge to cut out a symmetrical Christmas tree. You can use any tree that you have. I cut six flat trees for each dimensional tree. My sizes were eight inches for the large tree, and four inches for the smaller ones.

Use any Cuttlebug Folder of your choice to put texture on your trees! I used the herringbone folder on one, and the OhMyCraft Mistletoe folder on the other. Any one you like will be great.
(The 8 inch tree wouldn't fit, however, I realized I could have folded it, and run it through folded, since I was going to fold it anyway! )

Next, use the Scor-It to score each tree down the center, and fold it in half.

Using your adhesive of choice, glue each section of the folded trees to the next, and the next, until you have them all stacked. Then glue the last one to the first one creating a round tree.

Insert a wooden skewer into the center of the tree, and use a little glue to secure it.

This aerial view will help you get an idea how the trees can be different. The big one was glued all the way out, creating six flat sides, one was glued only at the center, creating twelve sections, and one was done about half way out allowing the tips to be curled. Each tree has a unique personality.

I used a Styrofoam base, and stuck the skewers into it . The trees were decorated with some write-on snow and flower soft. I added two little deer to the scene from the Paper Doll Dress Up cartridge.

A little additional snow sprinkled around finished the scene.

I hope you have enjoyed this tutorial, and will be making trees with your family for the holidays!
We will be seeing you soon with the 12 Days of Christmas and many other great ideas to keep you inspired.
Happy crafting~

Cuttlebug Challenge University

Copics Intermediate Class - Part 4

Hi! It's me, BettyBee again - and before I get too far into the post, I want to apologize for my lack of technical guru know-how! I thought I could split the upcoming video into a couple of shorter ones, but I can't seem to figure out how....so it will be the epic feature class today!!

This little beauty is our latest Fairy Tale from DigitalDelights by LoubyLoo. Each Tuesday this month we have showcased a brand new design created just for these classes, and you, our "straight-A" students have the opportunity to win them before they are released for sale! Just leave comments at Cindy Royal's Basic Classes on Tuesdays, 11/3 and 11/10, and my Intermediate Classes 11/17 and 11/24.

In addition to the digital images, you could also win genuine Copic Markers from our fantastic new sponsor, Hallmark Scrapbooks!!

They are going to give away TWO sets of twelve Copics (a $77.00 value) to our students! You need to do the "homework" for the basic classes, and leave comments with a link to your practice homework to be in the drawing for that set....and the same for the set for my intermediate classes....do your homework! Use any image, practice the techniques discussed in the video, leave a comment with a link to your practice work, and be a follower of Cuttlebug Challenge! Next Thursday (December 3rd) we will announce the winners.

Okay, here's my class on shadowing and shading with Copics. I hope you enjoy it, and I hope you do your homework! Don't forget ~ if you complete the homework for all four classes, you will receive a "certificate of graduation" from Cuttlebug Challenge University! How cool is that!?!

Thanks for watching!

Hello my friends! I'm Nathalia Castellon and today I'm going to share a few holiday projects using the "Jolly by Golly" Paper Crafting Kit from Cosmo Cricket. I adore the vibrant unexpected splashes of color and whimsical designs in this line. Whether you want to create something with a more traditional holiday feel or want to turn up the wattage, the patterns and colors are incredibly versatile. For my cards and projects I decided to go with a more feminine feel and let the rainbow hues and bright pinks take center stage.

Want to make your own handmade gift bows?
My Handmade Paper Bow Tutorial has complete easy-to-follow picture instructions.
To create the Recycled CD Tin Container you'll need a cd tin like this one from Creative Cuts & More and some acetate.

Determine the width and height of your container. Cut acetate to size - if you're using 8 1/2" x 11" sheets you might need to adhere two sheets together to achieve the proper width necessary. Adhere the acetate inside the bottom lid of your cd tin, allow to dry. Embellish your container with patterned paper and ribbon then fill with a handmade paper bow or other embellishment. You can also punch holes on the top sides of the acetate and add a handle to create your own Recycled CD Tin Paint Can.

Supplies Used in Today's Projects: Cuttlebug 6-pack Holiday Embossing Folders, Cosmo Cricket "Jolly by Golly" paper crafting kit, Creative Cuts & More Snowflake Die Cut, Cupcake Box, CD Tin

Good morning Cuttlebug fans! Welcome to the final day of our Festival of Lights! Have you been enjoying all the projects and inspiration! My mind is full of beauty and oh - my to do list has grown!!

Cassie here this afternoon with an altered project for today. Several of the Senior Design Team will be sharing projects centered around the theme of
Santa's Sweet Shoppe.

One of the traditional symbols surrounding the Christmas season is the Gingerbread House. I love the smell of gingerbread - in cookie or cake form! I don't remember ever decorating gingerbread houses as a child but my mother-in-law has done it with her grandkids for as long as I can remember. My little man (not quite 2 last year) got to "help" last Christmas --- which was eating more than anything! One thing I've always been amazed at is the willingness of people to put so much effort into something that is just thrown away after the holiday. But a gingerbread house out of paper would last from year to year!

Supplies:
house form/box/template
decorative papers
Cuttlebug & embossing folders (Victoria, Snowflake)
craft knife
strong adhesive
liquid adhesive (Crystal Effects)
glitter (Perfect fX in Sparkling Champagne)
ink
trims - lace, buttons, pearls

I started with a box I found in the shape of a gingerbread house. It contained cookie cutters but I bought it for the form!

After opening the box at the top, I peeled off the slick printed layer of the house. I wanted a good surface for my adhesive to adhere to and also didn't want any of the printing to potentially show. After that, I used an inkpad to add color to all the edges that matched my base paper.

I cut my paper into strips and embossed them using my Cuttlebug and embossing folders. The roof paper was sanded to reveal the white core of the paper. The siding was lightly rubbed with the ink pad to bring out the embossing. The edges were also inked on the side pieces.

Then came the fun part - adding in all the details! I used a third patterned paper for the door and windows, using a pen to add some detail. Instead of traditional "candy", I used "candy" that crafters find "yummy"! Buttons along the base, pearls on the roof.

I used Crystal Effects along the edges of the sides and the windows/doors and then sprinkled it with glitter - some Perfect fX flakes I have from when I first started stamping.

And a final closeup shot - can you see the embossing on the sides? This was really easy to make since I already had a form to use. It was just a matter of cutting, embossing, adhering and decorating! One thing I wish I'd done was go over *all* my edges on the room instead of just the two ends. But I'll just remember that for the next one!

I hope you enjoyed my project today! Please leave a comment --- the more comments you leave, the more chances you have to win one of our prizes from this weekend.

Hi Everyone.
`Happy Sunday` Terrie here to share with you a quick tutorial for a Lantern in celebration of
The Festival of Lights here at the Cuttlebug Challenge Blogspot..
We hope you are enjoying celebrating with us as much as we are enjoying celebrating this Festival with you all.
`WoW` what fabulous creations and video`s the DT have been showcasing all week!!!!!!
Today I am honoured to be sharing a Lantern I created as part of my celebration with you all. .They are easy to do once you get the main part of your Lantern together.
You will need.

Cuttlebug ,embossing folders of your choice I used my new snowflake folder and small snowflake border emboss folders for mine all from Provocraft .White cardstock.Diamonds.
Stapler,ruler,scissors,3d foam tape or pads.Glitter glue.Border punch.
Embellishments of your choice.small battery operated light.

Let`s Begin
1: Cut a piece of cardstock to measure 28cm x 14cm.
Emboss with your folders. Then fold your card in half and open up again ready to do your pencil lines.
Then measure and mark your piece of card as shown in the photo.Once you have done this fold card in half again.
and cut as photo shows.....
These pencil lines are used as guidelines for your cuts!!!!You can rub the pencil marks out as soon as you have created your cuts.

2: Now open you full piece of card and pull the two ends in to the centre to form a circle shape and staple the top and the bottom side parts together.Stand upright gently put a small amount of pressure on the top with your hand to create your main lantern.
Then cut a piece of card 3" x 5" ,emboss with your folders and use your border punch on both edges to give a more decorative effect. Then staple both ends to both sides of the inside part of the top of your Lantern.

3: Add 3d foam pads or foam tape around the top and bottom edges of your lantern(as shown in photo)Cut two strips of paper 2cm x the full circumference of the base and the top, emboss then secure both pieces to the top and bottom pieces of the foam tape as you go.(This now hides the stapled parts)

Now your main lantern is ready for you to dress with whatever embellishments you like.I used a button with a tassle and a self made beaded jewel to adorn my lantern adding a splashing of glitter glue to finsh adding a pin and jewels for addded decoration.
The choices are endless.....
A FEW FINER DETAILS...

4: Place your Lantern on your battery operated light ready for you to use as a decoration for any part of your house!!!!

What do you think?
