There’s nothing more beautiful than the anticipation of anxiously opening a gift box from the visual effects of the beautiful packaging.
I personally collect the gift tags that are given to me, to be included into my layouts as a memento of the gifts along with the pictures. Today we are sharing beautifully made gift tags so beautiful, you will want to collect them. So many wonderful ideas are showcased today you will think you were in a gift tag parade…
Are you ready to begin day 6 of our Handmade Christmas? The tags are easy to make, and only requires a few scraps of paper to complete.
Hi! Sandee here! Christmas is getting closer and our 12 days of Christmas celebration is in full swing! Today, I am showing you five tags that I made!
I had so much fun making these tags! Each one is made with thin chipboard (recycled packaging), designer papers, Mod Podge and stamps.
Let’s get started!
How to:
- This first tag is made using Spellbinders Labels Four, Memory Box Spearmint paper,
- Our Daily Bread designs stamp from the Luke 2:11 set, seam binding and silver cord, a large pearl of unknown origin, and I did the edges with stickles.
TTTTTT
Isn't this paper cute? It is Martha Stewart designer paper!
How to:
- I cut one of the deer out and popped it up with foam tape. It is sponged with Tim Holtz ink and I used an Elmers White Paint Marker for highlights too.
- I used circle punches to punch out a few snowflakes from the same paper. The background is embossed with the Cuttlebug Distress Stripes Folder.
- The sentiment is from an Inkadinkado set called Ornate Christmas. I sprayed it lightly with Marshmallow Glimmer Mist and used twill for the hanger.
TTTTTT
This one was fun! I was heavily inspired by a Tim Holtz tutorial I saw recently. The deer and trees are from one of his stamp sets.
How to:
- I heat embossed it in black onto chipboard and sponged it to match the SU! paper and ribbon. The papers are sprayed with several colors of Glimmer Mists. The sentiment is Our Daily Bread designs (Blessed Christmas Set).
- The snowflake charm is actually another stamp from ODBD called Peace and Joy.
- I stamped the snowflake onto shrink plastic and cut it out with their matching die and heated it to make the little snowflake charm!
TTTTTT
Isn't this snowman adorable!!! He is from the same Inkadinkado Ornate Christmas set!
How to:
- I stamped him twice so that I could do some paper piecing with his hat and scarf. The papers are more of the Martha Stewart papers. Love how they all coordinate!
- I added Martha Stewart snowflakes with buttons and twine. I used my crop-a-dile to set the eyelet and threaded gingham ribbon through for the hanger.
TTTTTT
Here is one made with the Spellbinders Heirloom Ornament and Labels Ten. The sentiment is also from the Inkadinkado Ornate Christmas set. The designer paper is more of the Martha Stewart paper.
How to:
- I added ribbon, lace, Martha's snowflake and button with twine. I also added some Want2Scrap bling around the sentiment label!
TTTTTT
A lot of times, I see something that I wanted to create, but I don't have the cartridge or the resources. My goal with this tutorial was to show a variety. I will show you tags created without a Gypsy, Cuttlebug, or a Cricut to be truly inspired! :)

How to:
- This last Cricut tag was two images welded together. I liked the holes it created in the middle. I cut the flourish again to place it on top.
- I used my i-rock to add bling and I heat embossed the "To" and "From" with gold embossing powder.
Tag from Tie the Knot™
Flourish from Storybook™
i-rock and bling by Imaginisce™
Martha Stewart Scandinavian Paper Pad ™
Gold embossing powder by Filigree from Paper Trey Ink™
Stamps: My Mind's Eye: Holly Jolly Perfect Stamps
I LOVE Echo Park Paper™ and the Merry Christmas line is fabulous. I just took these stickers, stuck them to card stock, cut it out, punched a hole on the the top, i-rocked some bling and tied a ribbon. Done. I am going to stamp a "To, From" onto the back. Easy Peasy.
I hope you have been inspired to make your own Christmas tags and share them with us !

I am Maggie with you today on the 6th day of Christmas, I want to share a classic way to make a simple tag a la Tim Holtz.
So simple, so sweet, that's exactly what we'll be creating today. I started with a white tag from the bride’s section from the craft store, created a faux leather look.
Let ‘s begin!
How to:
- Create a mist by combining iridescent medium and pearl ex colours of your choice. I have created 3 different colours.
- Start with your lightest colours and spray the tag, then add your darkest colour, use a brush to spread the mist on the tag, let dry.
- Use ranger distress and ink the edges, then use a bit of water to flicker the tag a la Tim Holtz.
- Stamp Inkadinkado christmas Greeting Seasons.
- Free hand a flourish use Want2Scrap rhinestone to decorate the tag.
- Add ribbon to the corner.
Supplies:
- Bride’s menu tag.
- iridescent medium and pearl ex, brush
- Ranger Distress ink, Miser spray
- Inkadinkado stamp, Stazon ink pad
- Want2Scrap rhinestone
What are your favorite Tim Holtz tags?
Recap:
DAY 1 – Advent Wreath
DAY 2 – Ornaments
DAY 3 – Calendars
DAY 4 – Treats
Day 5- Baby gifts and brag book

These are just so beautiful...I would have to save them. Some wrapping paper is that way. Too beautiful to mess up so you open as easy as possible and some people don't like it when I do that. LOL. Thanks for sharing.
