CHA Showcase

Wall Decor and More Cuttlebug Companion folder and Cartridge

By Kristi Driscoll

I created this frame using the Wall Decor and More cartridge
and it's Cuttlebug companion folder from Provo Craft.

The paper is from DCWV and Core'dinations.
The Vine Cuttlebug folder is highlighted with Memento ink and a blender pen.

For the flowers I used Core'dinations paper and the the new daisy Quilling Kit from Provo Craft. I added Stickles and wire beads that I found at Michael's in the wedding section. The border around the outside is the negative from the quilling die. I hope you like the look of it. I know that I will be using it again.

ASK TAMMY: Lets Talk About the New CRICUT IMAGINE Today!

Photobucket

Hello Everyone from CHA in Chicago!!

I wanted to take this opportunity to introduce you to the new CRICUT IMAGINE!

Photobucket

Here are a few video interviews with Chris Dodge, Provo Craft engineer, who is telling us a little about this awesome machine!

Another video with Chris...

There are more quick videos on my blog http://www.cricutcritters.com/ that answer specific questions! Robyn (http://www.mypinkstamper.com/) also has some fun video of the happenings here at CHA! You need to see her clips from the Provo Craft Gala... but be warned you might need some Kleenex when you see the part where Provo Craft gave two special ladies a new Cricut Imagine!

Now, let's open this up for questions about the CRICUT IMAGINE! I will take the first 20 questions and will start answering them this evening because I will be at the tradeshow all day without internet access. I also have just a fun giveaway of some cricut sunglasses and an IMAGINE t-shirt (size large)! Leave a comment on what you think about the new IMAGINE here or ask a question!

Cricutingly Yours,

Tammy

Is cricut going to offer a trade your old one in rebate?...LOL
Wow now that is a Machine!!!

LOL! Great idea! But I doubt it will be an option!

Tammy, I read where this machine is not campatable with Design Studio. Any buzz that there is something for a software update?

We have been told that it is "currently" not compatible with DS.  However, we were also told that the IMAGINE has a USB that will allow us too connect to a computer and that 'updates' are planned for it.

The Imagine looks like a very interesting machine. It has combined my two favorite companies. The only problem I have with it is the MSRP. OUCH!  Since the mats for the Imagine has a different more friendly adhesive, are they thinking about using that adhesive on the current mats?

Good question!  Unfortunately there was no discussion about this, so I don't know the answer yet.  But I will ask and find out.

CHA Week-Wall Decor

Rosemary Zuba
How exciting for me to present to you two new embossing folders from Provo Craft!!..These Cuttlebug folders are companion folders to the new cartridge, Wall Decor and since I knew of someone who just had a baby I was thrilled to received two folders that would work on a layout I wanted to do.

My background paper is My Minds Eye and the two baby folders were embossed using Core'dinations Gemstone cardstock. Stickles was added to the clothesline folder and ribbon and slider to the folder with all the embossed cute little baby clothing. Slider and paper flowers are from Wild Orchid Crafts located in the UK. The pretty bling flower is from Prima. Butterflies (Fiskars and Martha Stewart punches) and the title were cut using Core'dinations Whitewash cardstock. For the title, I used Cursive 101 and Design Studio to weld the letters together. The green mat is also Core'dinations. The pink stem was a gift from a friend; sorry don't know the company.

I hope you are enjoying CHA week at Cuttlebug Challenge Blogspot!!

3 Minute Magic Cake

Betty Brett

Well, here it is, the end of the Christmas Around the Clock event...
What an awesome time we've had!
I'm bringing you a real treat for you, and for you to share now...
Just a couple of minutes to prepare, then you can put your feet up and really indulge yourself in yummy, delicious chocolate cake! Come on, after all of these great challenges, you deserve it!
Grab a nice big mug, and add:
4 tablespoons of flour
4 tablespoons of sugar
2 tablespoons of cocoa
and 3 tablespoons of chocolate chips (I like minis!)
Stir well.

Now, if you are giving this as a delicious gift, you mix this in a snack size bag and put it in the mug, and then make the following little book tag:

on the inside is the recipe!
In this mug mix the dry ingredients with:
1 egg
3 Tablespoons of Milk
2 Tablespoons of Oil
Mix with fork until fluffy.
Set mug on microwave safe plate (because it will rise up above the mug, and might dribble over). Cook in microwave for 3 minutes.
Enjoy! It is even more scrumptious with ice cream :)

Wrap your mug, with the dry ingredients, in a cello wrap. Add your festive recipe tag, tie with a holiday bow, and you have a great gift for someone especially sweet!

Thank you for being with us during our Christmas Festival all this week. We appreciate all of you, and hope you have left some comments and love for our designers.

Please tell your friends about our blog, as keep doing our best to bring you inspiring challenges, motivating tutorials, and informational features. There are new things right around the corner! Make sure you are getting our blog posts by email, by signing up on our NEW subscription service. Now, on to your last challenge for this Christmas Around the Clock!!!

YOUR CHALLENGE:
Have your cake, and eat it, too!!! Make a mug cake, and post your photo eating it! We'd love to get to meet our wonderful viewers!! Enjoy :) Good luck with the contest, too! Numbers of winners will be determined by the number of qualified entries. There will be a minimum of 5 winners, and there could be as many as 10! Happy crafting!

Joy, Love, Peace - two cards from one file...

Hi, it's Diane again - back for your 10 p.m. challenge.  I hope you have been enjoying all of the fabulous projects the team has come up with to get your Christmas creativity in high gear!

These two cards were created by carefully planning the "offcut" to create a new design element for a second card.  If you spend a little time thinking through the placement of your design elements you can save time and paper while making two related but different cards.

The first card I designed was this aperture card using a frame from the From My Kitchen Cricut Cartridge and words from the Winter Woodland cartridge.  I used the Lace Tree Cuttlebug folder on the liner.

When I cut the layers for the words, I planned out the placement and added a few holly leaves to create this element for the front of another card.  I replaced the centers of some letters with gems.  I used the snowflake border from the Cuttlebug Winter Borders set along the bottom of the card.

More details and instructions along with the .cut file can be found on my blog, Capadia Designs.

YOUR CHALLENGE:  Create a pair of cards using my file or a similar file that you create which makes use of what would otherwise be "waste paper."  If you do not use Design Studio or the Gypsy, you can use the remnants from a cut from one card for a second card.   Post your pair of cards to the LINKZ below by August 1st, and remember, those with the most challenges posted will win prizes!!!

Christmas Around the Clock 10:00 PM

Oh Christmas Tree!

Okieladybug

Tags, Bags, Boxes and More is such a great little cart and packed with some wonderful items. Sadly, it is being retired and will no longer be available so when it's gone it's gone! While it is not one of my most used carts, I do love having it to make cute little projects such as this Christmas Tree box. The pyramid cut was used to make this tree. Christmas Noel was used for the branches on the tree, and the star is from Home Decor.

The box is big enough to hold some candies or trinkets for gift giving. It could even just be used as a small table decoration, or place settings at your Christmas dinner, filled with mints for your guests.

I took a picture looking down so you can see how the details are on all sides.

If you would like more instructions and the .cut file you can visit my blog at Okieladybug's Scrap N' More.

YOUR CHALLENGE:
Create a three dimensional Christmas Tree like Okie's! You can use this tutorial, or June's Triangular Treat Box tutorial on Thursday, 7/22 ~ or whatever three dimensional tree you desire! Post your creation here to LINKZ by August 1st! Remember that the crafters with the most challenges posted will win!!!

Yummy for the Tummy!!!

Betty Brett

At Christmas we are often wanting a special treat to give to our friends, co-workers, class mates, or acquaintances, and what is better than a yummy chocolate bar???

This simple tutorial will take you through how to wrap a Hershey Bar, but the concept is the same for your favorite treat!
Gather your supplies:
Candy :)
Designer Paper
Ribbon
Stamped Image
Red Line or Tear-ific Tape (Strong Adhesive)
Crimper
First, measure the length of your candy bar, adding one inch for sealing.
For a Hershey Bar, the measurement is 7.5 x 6.
Score at 1.5 and 1.75 then again at 4 and 4.25.
This will create a little "box" for your candy bar. If your candy bar is thicker, you will need to adjust this measurement to accommodate the thickness of the candy.
Add strong adhesive to both ends and one long side.

Close the seam, and pinch the ends shut. Run both ends into the crimper, just a little ways, so the seam will stay shut.

Add a ribbon and tag, and your gift is ready to present!
A basket full of these goodies makes a lovely presentation,
and also makes you the hostess with the mostest!!!

YOUR CHALLENGE:

Cover your favorite chocolate bar, then post the project here! The crafters with the most posts will win Cuttlebug Folders!!!

Santa's Soup

Wanda Keller

For my Challenge I decided to make a can of Santa Soup. You use a 15 oz can that has a pull top lid. Cut off the lid using a “safe-top” can opener, or you can just use a can of soup. Wrap you design around the can and tape it on. I made the tag with red and green cardstock, running them through the Cuttlebug with the swiss dot folder. Topping it off with ribbon and seasonal stickers.

Here’s the poem by Pam Ridenour:

Santa’s been so busy, he’s had no time to eat.
And Mrs. Claus got worried, so she made a special treat.
She took his favorite things, and put them in a pot.
She added magic elf dust, and heated it ‘til hot.
Santa loved it so much, he finished the whole pan.
So Mrs. Claus made more, and put it in this can.
Since Santa thought it was yummy, she thought that you might too.
So she asked dear old sweet Santa, to leave a can for you!

The tag has on it:
Contents
2 pkg Hot Chocolate
2 Peppermint Sticks
4 Hershey Kisses
Marshmallows

YOUR CHALLENGE:
Create your own version of Santa Soup, following the inspiration from Wanda's tutorial. You can use any graphic or clip art you want. You can even cut something out and use it. Make sure you Cuttlebug something. I’m so excited to see what everyone comes up with! Then post your project to LINKZ below by August 1st! Remember, the girls with the most posts win!!
