The Red Cross and hurricane Irene response effort

Our heart and prayers goes to the victims and the survivor of this devastating hurricane Irene. Please donate to the Red Cross here are some information regarding the effort.
With communities from North Carolina to New England suffering from significant flooding, wind damage and widespread power outages from Hurricane Irene, the American Red Cross is responding with shelter, food and other assistance.
“The storm may be over, but our work is far from done,” said Gail McGovern, Red Cross president and CEO. “We expect this disaster relief operation to be a very large operation that will continue for several weeks.”

I just love making Halloween themed projects. I know it seems a bit early, but I am seeing Halloween things all around at the craft stores and on blogs and decided I needed to get started.

Mini Monsters Lamp post

Here's a pretty easy picture that is not so scary, but Halloween inspired just the same.
Supplies:

  • Mini Monsters Cricut Cartridge from Provo Craft
  • DCWV-TheGhosts and Goblin Stack
  • Stampin Up cardstock-assorted solid colors
  • Stickles - assorted colors, Imaginesce-black adhesive backed metal dots
  • Tulip heat setter, picture frame
Instructions:
  • Lampost and layers cut at 6" from Mini Monsters cartridge.
  • I assembled layers using adhesive, pop dots and metallic thread between the signs. I used stickles on the lantern light, lampost, and each word on the signs.
  • I placed metal dots in a pattern and liked and then heat set each dot using my Tulip setter. Simple project though placement of dots and heat setting took a bit of time.

Letraset Promarker Review with a Giveaway!

Good Morning,

LetrasetPromarker-card

I wanted to say a silent prayer to our friends who are experiencing Hurricane Irene and wishing everyone is safe, and Irene goes away.

I’ve always wanted to try Copic Markers due to the economy and my large stash I decided to do research on all the available markers in the market before investing.

A little bit about the Letraset Company!

The Letraset business was founded in London in 1959, introducing innovative media for commercial artists and designers.
From the early days of dry transfer lettering, a breakthrough in typography invented by the company, to its famous range of Fontek digital fonts and Phototone digital images, Letraset has always been committed to providing choice and consistent quality.
With emphasis on technical development and marketing strategy, Letraset’s range of products has become known and respected by professional users throughout the world, developing far beyond its Dry Transfer origins.

Welcome to

1Rendezvousmonday

Carole Palmiere Hello, crafters. I hope you're all doing well this fine day. I'm here share with you my recent experience with Promarker by Letraset.

OH MY! It was LOVE at first colored image! Yes, the ink flowed so smoothly. No streaking! Just even, beautiful color. I was in heaven! I could finally use all those wonderful House Mouse and Gruffies stamps I owned, including  the digital image sites. Yes, I would finally color images for my card making passion and it wouldn't break the bank to do it!

LetrasetPromarker-buttons

I mentioned  my experience with Promarkers to some of my crafty friends on a Facebook Group I belong to and got some of the usual arguments I've heard others use when comparing Copics to Promarker. Copics are refillable, Promarkers aren't.

You can change the nibs on Copics (I didn't know nibs needed to be changed), you can't on Promarker. Okay, I decided I needed to look into this price comparison thing a bit further.

Here are my results:

A Copic Original marker costs $5.99, ink refill good for 7-9 refills for an Original Copic marker costs $5.99, refill packs of nibs costs anywhere from $3.96 to $4.96 a pack, with there being anywhere from 2 to 10 nibs per pack. Since there 2 different nibs on each pen, you would need 2 refill packs. Here's the math. Original Copic Marker price $5.99, refill ink good for 9 refills $5.99, 2 packs of nibs $7.92 (at least) for a total cost of $19.90. For $19.90 you would essentially have 10 full Copic marker fills.

LetrasetPromarker

The Promarker comes with a fine point nib and a calligraphy nib.

LetrasetPromarker-blue

Pro:

Promarker costs $1.65, so for $19.90, I can purchase the same Promarker (12 ). No need for nib refill as a new pens come with new nibs.... Color me SOLD!

I promptly placed my order for 30 markers, not being able to swing purchasing all 148 colors at this time. And I was not alone. My good friend Caroline placed an order the same day as well, with more friends from our Facebook group to follow, Yes as crafters we are great enablers!

Con:

Promarker are not refillable, but at this price less than a fountain pen, you can replace them easily.

Home Décor have never been any easier than creating a them that fits your style.

You can't go wrong with Super Simple. Trees and shadow cut from Zooballo Cricut Cartridge(about 9-1/2") in cardstock colors to match my family room decor. Frames purchased with 50% off coupons at Michael's. I get a lot of compliments on these and they were done in about an hour (only because I'm incredibly slow). It took me longer to hang them up straight then it did to create them!

Recycling dishes onto home décor tutorial!

Hi Everyone,
SONY DSC
Happy Monday today is the first day of school  and it has been a very busy week at my house, getting all the shopping and school supplies ready, registering, and it is so sad to see Summer ends and all of our weekly outings.

Decorating on a dime has always been a part of my life growing up with a mother who is the ultimate recycler, on turning everything into an amazing project. Today I will be showing you how easy  it is to recycle old dishes into home décor by creating your own mask using the Cricut Machine and Cartridges, instead of sending the dishes to the landfill.

Welcome

1Rendezvousmonday
me2
Hello, I’m Maggie  we will be creating a very easy home décor using older dishes, with a few cut images as a mask from the Cricut cartridge, Krylon glass spray paint, and a few embellishment from Prima and our stash.
This tutorial is so versatile you can use about anything as a mask for other projects such as pillows, canvas etc.
I do recommend you use vinyl or contact paper, but the core'dination papers are very sturdy and will work well for a mask.

Supplies:

SONY DSC

  • Krylon Spray paint, Easy tack, glossy accent
  • Cricut Expression Machine, triple thicke sealant
  • Cricut Rock Princess Cartridge (butterfly), Core’dination cardstock, Prima rhinestones
Instructions:
  • Cut the to fit your plate, mine is 6”, 3.5", 3"
  • Spray adhesive to the back of the image, adhere to the plate
Tip
Make sure you remove any residue adhesive from the cut image, adhere really well by using a brayer.

SONY DSC
  • Spray paint the dish, let dry for 1 hour before removing the mask.
SONY DSC
  • Gently peel the mask, adhere prima rhinestones to the center by using a dollop of glossy accent, let dry.
  • Seal with triple thicke sealant, so it will be easy to dust :)
Voila done, easy peasy by using my stash and my trusty Cricut I can change the theme to fit any season.
Other ideas you can use the sweetheart cricut cartridge to create a wedding theme home decor as a gift for wedding shower, or New Arrival for a baby room, the possibilities are endless and best of all it won't break the bank :)

SONY DSC
Have a fabulous week!
