Snow Man tutorial Crafting with kids

Hi Everyone,
Happy New Year from all of us at Passionately Artistic we wish you a year of health, prosperity and most of all Happy Crafting!
The kids are out of school and pretty soon you will be hearing the B word I'm bored. Amy is going to show you a fun project on how to keep the kids busy.

Hi!  My name is Amy, aka One Artsy Mama, and I am so excited to ring in the new year here at Passionately Artistic by sharing a project with you!  As for me, I'm mama to an adorable three year old who I like to call my "Little Crafter," and I have a handsome hubby who also knows how to ballroom dance {yes, that's really us!}

I'm passionate about my family, dance, Ravens football, and Jesus, and I'm a total Starbucks addict.
I love creating things of all kinds, especially when I get to do it with my little helper.  Here's one of our recent projects I thought you and the kiddos in your life might enjoy!

First, can I just say that one of my new favorite crafting supplies is a small terracotta pot?
This fall, we used them to make jack-o-lanterns.

A few weeks ago, we stacked and decorated them to make festive Christmas trees...

Then, we got together with our crafting friends the M family to make these adorable snowmen!
My mom bought something similar at a craft fair and it was filled with candy, which is what we've used ours for too...you should see how many lollipops Little Crafter can stuff into one of these babies!

FLOWER POT SNOWMEN
Materials:
small terra cotta pot
white and black acrylic paint & paintbrushes
googly eyes {ours were self-adhesive}
orange felt
colored fleece
scissors and craft or hot glue

STEP 1: Paint pots white and let dry completely.

STEP 2: Cut fleece to fit around upper rim of pot and glue in place.

STEP 3: Cut nose out of felt and adhere eyes and nose.

STEP 4: Use the bottom of a paint brush dipped in paint to create a smile.

They're simple, cute, and cheap!  You can get these pots for less than $1 each, and we had everything else on hand already.

Thanks for crafting with us, M family, thanks to mom for the inspiration, and thanks to Maggie for the opportunity to share this with you today!

I'd love for you to stop by One Artsy Mama sometime and visit;

Happy Crafting!

Last 5 days of 2011 Hello 2012!

IMG_4116(2)

5 days only till New Year and we say hello to 2012.  What will the new year bring you? have you made any projections for  2012 yet?
In January we have an amazing line up of ideas for Organizations, Recipes, Health and craft ideas for kids, be sure to check back as we start a brand new year!
Christmas was over too quickly for me, my sister left today. We did venture out on Monday to catch some sales, I  can happily say I have 50% off my Christmas shopping for next year  2012  almost done already and wrapped. My favorite items to give out is the gift bath sets from Bath and body work, they come in glitter packages and some of them are already gift wrap, less work. I’ve labeled all the gifts and they are currently stored in a moist free bag under the bed for next year :)  Pottery barn is closing currently get an extra 20% off the 60% reduced Christmas items, I’ve picked up some amazing burlap table placemats going to a good friend next year.

I have taken over 350 pictures of our Christmas celebration, fortunately Karen Thind is with us to share easy ideas to capture our memories. Please help us welcome the fabulous Karen!

meHi, I'm Karen! A crafty mom to three lovely daughters and wife of 14 years (yikes, time flies!) Today Maggie asked me to share a few scrapbook layouts; Hope you enjoy them!

Today I have three Christmas layouts to inspire you with to get those Christmas pictures preserved!.
Sometimes with pictures we are capturing the moment and the memory so the actual picture may not be perfect, or it can be
filled with lots of people and lots of colours. One way I found to balance that in a scrapbook page, is to use a solid
colour background to keep the busy pattern paper to a minimum.

KThindPhoto2

In this one I covered three tags with some great festive Echo Park paper. It fits the fun theme of the photos, and by keeping it to a minimum it doesn't compete with the busy photos.
Another way to use some tags on a layout, is to use them as a frame for photos. In this layout I had a bunch of pictures I wanted to include, so I matted and placed each one of its on tag. There was room for some specific journaling on the tag,and I added some more general journaling on the layout.

KThindPhoto3

KThindPHoto4

This layout I tried a different size photo. This photo is printed as a panoramic 4X10. I chose to make it vertical and then kept the embellishments in that direction as well.

Fashion Jewelry La Mer Knockoff DIY Tutorial

Good morning everyone!
Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukah to you and your love ones!
Today we have the fabulous Donatella with us to share step by step tutorial on how to recreate the La Mer watch at a fraction of the cost. This will make a perfect gift for any occasion or a teenager.
Please help us welcome the amazing Donatella!

I'm Donatella, author of Inspiration & Realisation!
I have a background in accounting and fashion designer (I know, the two things don't go together very well, but such is life!) and I started to blog in March 2011.
My favorite projects are about refashioning old clothes and accessories into something new and fashionable and recycling everyday materials into something new and cool.
You can't see me, but I'm doing my happy dance since the minute I've got invited to guest posting at Passionately Artistic!

Today I'll show you how to make the "must have" wrapped watch: follow the tutorial and make your own for a fraction of the price!!

The most coveted fun wrapped watches
by La Mer.
I {HAD} to make my DIY version.

Here the side-by-side pictures:
wrapped...

...and unleashed
what you need and the tutorial:
Seemed pretty DIY able to me since it's nothing like a regular watch with longer straps and chains.
Good enough to me, since (are you tired of hear this?) I had everything from previous projects, and the watch too - an old one that needs a new battery, now!

{TUTORIAL}

1* Add one split ring to one side of the watch and get one side of the chains on another split ring
2* Cut two strips of thin leather size 1" x 13", glue the center on the wrong side, and fold 1/4" on both sides for the length, leaving about 1" un-glued at one side.
3 & 4 * Pass the un-glued leather under the side of the watch and fold the sides to overlap the folded part of the strap.
5* Repeat on the other side and put a drop of glue to keep it in place.
6* Punch the holes: one on both sides of the quadrant of the watch, and three at the bottom of one of the straps, where you want your buckle.
7* Hammer the rivets with the tool that comes with the rivets.
8* Connect the split ring next to the watch with the one where the chains are, lay the chains flat next to the straps and cut the chains slightly longer. - see picture -
9* Try the watch on and decide where to cut the strap.

10* Punch a hole next to the edge of the strap and place another rivet.
11* Punch 3 or 4 holes on the strap and...
12* You're done!
- Optional -
Un-leash your imagination and add charms, beads, studs & more!
and... WEAR often!!!

4 days away till Christmas 2011 with a linking party!

Hi Everyone,
It’s amazing to me that we are only 4 days away from Christmas 2011. This year has been a year with so much to be thankful for! We are totally grateful to you for making this site the success it has been with our weekly linking parties and the amazing talents you share with us every week. I wish you all the best and the merriest Christmas ever with health and lots of joy with your love ones.

Please help us welcome our guest today Mari, She’s amazing at taking every day object and turning them into a stunning project!

IMG_0201I am Mari and I blog over at A Mom Not a Professional Nor a Perfectionist.
I am Mexican Puertorican married to a Southern Georgia boy and raising our 3 precious boys in Ecuador. How about that for some culture!  I am a missionary, a counselor, an artist and I love to cook.
A lot my recipes and craft projects come from these 3 mottos "necessity is the mother of invention", "Ain't got no money" and "Too cheap to buy it."

Evergreen and Eucalyptus Tree are dainty layered around the hurricanes to add that nature inspired effect.  The wreath is my favorite it is made from Fresh Carnations.  J-O-Y is spelled out on the red ornaments and red berries are hanging from the mantle.
Here is the tutorial on this Simple but Fabulous Fresh Flowered Wreath:

Supplies:
Floral foam
Floral Tape
Bright Red fluffy Carnations or whatever color you want
Red Wide Ribbon
Skewers

1. I could not find floral foam in shape of a wreath so I created mine buy cutting the blocks of foam and making a rectangle like this.

100_3887

2. I used wooden skewers to secure it and then taped each side.  I would recommend that you use the green floral tape instead of the masking tape I have here:

100_3889

3. Once it is secure begin inserting your carnations. Until the top is completely covered.
4. Then go around and place that wide red ribbon around the outside and inside of the rectangle.
5. Secure the ribbon with straight pins.

Yes, it was as simple as that!

Here are some Simple Nature Inspired Tablescapes for Christmas:

100_3825

Just a few simple touches to create that nature feel. In the square vases we have place an evergreen twig with some red small pebbles.

The Eucalyptus is around each candle holder. J-O-Y is spelled out on the three red ornaments.
