With communities from North Carolina to New England suffering from significant flooding, wind damage and widespread power outages from Hurricane Irene, the American Red Cross is responding with shelter, food and other assistance.
“The storm may be over, but our work is far from done,” said Gail McGovern, Red Cross president and CEO. “We expect this disaster relief operation to be a very large operation that will continue for several weeks.”

I just love making Halloween themed projects. I know it seems a bit early, but I am seeing Halloween things all around at the craft stores and on blogs and decided I needed to get started.
Here's a pretty easy picture that is not so scary, but Halloween inspired just the same.
Supplies:
- Mini Monsters Cricut Cartridge from Provo Craft
- DCWV-TheGhosts and Goblin Stack
- Stampin Up cardstock-assorted solid colors
- Stickles - assorted colors, Imaginesce-black adhesive backed metal dots
- Tulip heat setter, picture frame
- Lampost and layers cut at 6" from Mini Monsters cartridge.
- I assembled layers using adhesive, pop dots and metallic thread between the signs. I used stickles on the lantern light, lampost, and each word on the signs.
- I placed metal dots in a pattern and liked and then heat set each dot using my Tulip setter. Simple project though placement of dots and heat setting took a bit of time.
